Is there any way of adding an iCal link from your website so that on clicking it takes you to iCal and allows the date to be added?

Control-click on the event in your calendar, and choose Mail Link… from the contextual menu. A new mail message will open with an attached .ics file for that event. Simply drag that file somewhere in your project folder for safe-keeping, and use the Graphic Link to File or Link to File Action to add it to your page.
