Since installing some software updates on my computer recently, Freeway is no longer showing the ‘Find slaves’ option, so I can’t tell it where to find the slaves (target images).
Money is really tight at the moment, so I really need to find another workaround that doesn’t involve buying the latest edition if possible.
All Actions are context-sensitive. That is, they only appear in lists if you have selected an element that they are designed to operate on. For example, select an HTML box with text inside it, and you will not see Target Show/Hide Image in the list of available Actions. Select a graphic box, and you will.
Which Action had this option in it previously? Was it the Rollover? All of the Actions had a bit of a political-correctness injection several years ago, and all references to slavery were removed. The option might be there, but named differently, particularly if you moved from Freeway 3 to 4 in the course of your upgrade. (I think that was the era where the change happened.)

I’m still working on Freeway 4 Pro 4.4.2 (Dinosaur Edition). This version definitely hasn’t had the political-correctness update and all the patches and software updates had been removed from the Softpress website last time I was having problems.
The ‘Find slaves’ option was in the Window/Actions menu on the ‘Slave show/hide images’ tab.
The list of options on this tab used to be:
Initially: visible/hidden
Restore: yes/no
Preload: yes/no
Find slaves: top/this + a couple of others I don’t remember
Slave#:
Now it still has all of those options except the ‘Find slaves’ one - the one I really need to make the pages work. It was there two weeks ago before my last software update.
I know it’s a long shot, but is there any way around this or any alternative setting I can use?
Are you using frames in your site? That’s the only reason you need the Find slaves option at all. Is it possible that you have installed a newer form of the Action in your user account (perhaps in the process of trying to fix another problem)? Look in [your home folder]/Library/Application Support/Freeway 4/Actions and see what you see there. I ask because this Action is built into Freeway itself, and that master version never gets updated, only copies of the Action are placed in various named folders on your system and they “shadow” the one that’s bundled into Freeway.

PS: If you send an e-mail to support(a)softpress.com, I bet they can find a virgin copy of the installer for your version somewhere and send it to you.

Hi Walter
Thanks for getting back to me.

The pages weren’t built with frames but, according to Tim who helped me out last time, the AddThis buttons I installed the pages create their own frame. This is why I have been needing to adjust the setting every time I write a new blog post.
I had a look in the folder you suggested, but the only thing in there is the Favicon action I installed quite some time ago.
It seems inevitable that things like this will keep cropping up and I’m a complete technophobe when it comes to fixing them. I’m wondering if it might be worth asking my boss about purchasing the new version - I’m sure it would give me less stress and headaches!
