[Pro] Internet Explorer - Web Fonts in CSS menu

Hi, I am having trouble with Internet Explorer not loading the correct webfont into the main CSS menu item on the above website. This is causing the last two right hand side items to run over onto a second line. The web font is Frutiger condensed and is set with the latest Webfont action (1.5). IE seems to use a wide seriff font instead. All other browsers display correctly as they should. Any ideas as to what could be the issue?

we already had this a couple of days ago, right?

You haven’t loaded the .ttf (TrueType Font) resource which is necessary for IE.

Cheers

Hi Thomas, we touched on this, but having updated the action with the help of Tim Plumb, the issue was resolved…or at least I thought it was. Is there any manual method I should use to load the font, (ie via FTP) or is it a case of recreating the font set for Frutiger with more alternative fonts?

There is only one critical point on the action:

Whenever you change styles (using the styles dialogue or even inspector) regarding the action, it loses its connection to the resource(s).

So whenever fiddling in styles, make sure you have both (.otf and .ttf) correctly (re)applied.

I never had over all the years any bad experiences with Tim’s action and am still a huge fan of it,

BUT -

I usually do not have legal FONTs to use (EULA), which is the reason I entirely switched to Google WebFonts.

Cheers

Thomas

PS:

It should be noted, that after the initial upload, I usually transferred all action-created stuff manually to the dedicated places. But that’s me!

Great Thomas, thanks as always for your advice, I think the altering of styles may be what has caused this. I’ll look into it now.

Matt
