[Pro] Java script error message using Carousel

I’ve just made a Carousel involving four or five book covers. When I go to publish, I simply get a Java script error message which says ‘The file has no properties’; it then shows a box below it with code in it. Delta Dave, I upgraded to Freeway 5.5 so that’s what I’m using, plus the latest Carousel action from Actions Forge. Any advice welcome – not sure what to do.

The actual message reads:

Could not complete the ‘Publish Site’ command because a JavaScript error occurred in a Freeway Action. If you republish your site the Action will be ignored.

Is this a document you started in a different version of Freeway?

Could you try making a new document, starting in Freeway 5.5 and with
no other documents open at the same time? Create a basic Carousel out
of three or four graphic boxes filled with solid color, and see if the
error repeats. I have not tested Carousel under 5.5 yet, but I have
had no similar error reports either.

Dear Walter, thanks for this quick response. I’ve footered a bit (as we say in Scotland) and deleted something called ‘Protaculous’ from the Actions folder, and it all seems to be working ok now. Yes, this is a project I began in Freeway 5.4.2.

Will let you know if anything else untoward occurs.

Many thanks.

That shouldn’t possibly work, unless you found more than one item
called Protaculous in your Actions folder. Protaculous is the name of
the Action bundle (fwactionb is the file extension for a bundle
Action) which contains the Carousel Action. If you deleted that
bundle, then you wouldn’t have Carousel to work with at all.

Dear Walter, actually I can’t find ‘Protaculous’ in the Actions now at all, only the following:

Carousel
Carousel Button
Carousel Pane
Carousel Tab

I’m probably wrong, but it seems to me that the issue was with ‘Protaculous’, because as soon as that no longer appeared, everything started working.

Try clicking on the page somewhere empty, then looking in Page /
Actions for Protaculous.

No, still can’t find it anywhere. I did what you suggested with three simple blocks of colour in a new Freeway 5.5 document with no other documents open at the same time. Just to be safe, I also re-installed the latest Carousel action from the Actions Forge. ‘Protaculous’ doesn’t come up in the page actions, nor under the actions under ‘Window’, and only Carousel, Carousel Pane and Carousel Button come up in the latter; when I make a little tab and try and find the ‘Carousel Tab’ action, it’s nowhere to be seen. I’m using OSX 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro. I’ve got the Carousel working, and it still seems to be working fine on the other document. I haven’t put that site online yet, but may I shd just do that and send you a link to the page.

Any help appreciated!

That is so strange, that you can see one and not the other. Try this.
With Freeway running, but no documents open, go to Edit / Actions and
scroll down near the bottom of the list. If you find any checkboxes
which are unchecked, re-check them. I am guessing you will find
Protaculous, maybe Observer, unchecked.

The Protaculous bundle contains Protaculous (page and item), Observer,
Carousel, Carousel Pane, Carousel Button, Carousel Text Tab, and
Carousel Tab. I have never released a version of the Carousel Actions
that doesn’t include Protaculous and Observer, so if you have one, you
have the other.

Many thanks for this Walter. I’ve just done as you suggested and it all seems to be back working. Many thanks for your patience.
