[Pro] Layer in 5.5

Anyone know where the ‘layer’ checkbox has gone in 5.5 ??

In old 3.5 the Inspector had a clear checkbox to make something a layer. I can’t see any layer function in the Inspector at all now. And there isn’t a layers palette.

Where has it gone?..!!

Make sure that you are on an Html 4 or above page first!

I’m on an HTML 4.01 Transitional page and with an item selected there is no layer checkbox in the Inspector.

I’ve screen-shot it but don’t know how to post images here…?

You need to host them publicly then use this code putting in the appropriate link path.

Uh oh… I’ve found it now! Don’t know what was going on there. I drew a graphic and positioned it on my design and there was no layer checkbox. I drew another graphic half on and half off the page - i.e. without positioning it) and the layer checkbox was present. Must have been some methodology thing, or maybe combined graphics…?

Disappointingly I can’t see the Layer Positioning action in the default action set (nor in actionsforge) - this let you move layers out of the way to work on other stuff beneath. Not sure how to work with layers now… ?

Not sure how to work with layers now…

This starts with an appropriate naming convention for your items - so that they are easily identified.

Then in the Site/Page panel at the LHS (with Show Items enabled) select the item that you wish to work on and use the Enter key to select and open it for editing.
