[Pro] Layout problems

This is a trial shop page I’m pulling together for myself. The banner and content section are both 880 pxl in width, yet in different browsers, and even in Freeway Preview, the banner is narrower in width than is the content.

Any ideas why this is happening?

PS… don’t worry about aberrant underlines or funny looking tables. I’ve still to fix those. This is just for sizing and looks (at least as it looks to my color blind eyes!)

They may be 880 in the inspector but when viewed with a browser they are 900.

There is certainly 10px of padding in the lower table which bumps it up.

You appear to have created the upper table slightly differently and this is making it seem smaller. I am getting this: td width=“878” height=“143” style=“background-image:url(Resources/moxontitled.png); padding:10px”

I hope this helps track your problem down.

Thanks for the feedback.

I changed both banner and content to HTML items. It’s a pain to try and get an HTML item and a Table to match up. Some further changes in the background color to FFFFC2 (parchment) and a couple of more tweaks and it looks to line up. There may be a pixel or so off but I’m not worried about that. I viewed it on three different monitors and of course everything looks different on each one (Apple Cinema, Samsung SyncMaster, Dell garbage).

In the end, I’m trying to keep things as simple as possible for my particular audience… some of whom are just upgrading from a PC with a CD burner to a PC with a DVD burner.

That green background was interesting, but in the end it didn’t do the trick. The content area receded instead of standing out. Of course, in 6 months I may change things again…

Thanks
Gary
