[Pro] Layout vs preview problem

Hi, does everyone else have this problem or is it just me?
In Freeway working mode things seem to overlap, but on previewing they’re fine, and does anyone have a solution if so?

It’ll sometimes happen that there’s a bit of copy under there which I can’t get to. No great hassle, but it’s really annoying.

I experience this, usually as a page becomes more complex, or when I use
css styles that are added in ways that Freeway Pro cannot render – extended
style attributes or style notations. And often with floated elements or
inline constructions.

Quite often it requires some skill in ignoring what the working page looks
like, but understanding how Freeway will code it for the browser. IMO, the
same skill necessary when hand coding. Oh, the irony…

I also experience this from time-to-time, especially on a client site that I created and maintain which has a monthly magazine which is transferred into a Yudu to be viewed on the site. Now and again the navigation drops down across the page in the middle of the Yudu magazine and yet on the FW file it is perfect. I can’t seem to fix and it is so time consuming it’s easier to remake the page and delete the offending one.

Elizabeth, Ernie, thanks for your replies.

Elizabeth, it sounds like you have the opposite happening to me - my displacement happens in the Freeway file and not when rendered. I’m pleased it’s that way, very frustrating otherwise.

Ernie, I’m trying to keep it as uncomplicated as possible and trying to construct it as inline. This effect happened when I added the large otter shot as a background image to the right box (so I could get the 3 smaller insert shots to overlap). Everything was doing nicely before that and flowing as expected in the working file.

I know this is a lot to ask, but would anyone be prepared to spend 5 minutes just having a look at the FW file, not to rectify it, but to see if you think I may have overcomplicated things, as Ernie suggests? Or should I approach Softpress directly?

Thanks
Trev

I’m not sure what we may discover in your file Trevor – I was having
difficulty just the other day with this inline construction:
http://cssway.thebigerns.com/products/silverscreen/

Everything was fine with it, but if I tried to replace the image of the
columns or my photo at the bottom, the entire inline would collapse. There
was no logical reason for it as no physical dimensions were being changed.
Ultimately I deleted the graphics and their containing html box, made new
ones and after that everything worked just fine. Why? I could never even
begin to speculate.

Nor could I explain why Freeway Pro is always creating duplicate Header
styles every time I turn around, or why it unapplies List styling in the
same inexplicable way.

I don’t know which is worse, that FWP misbehaves this way – or that I’ve
come to accept it as normal.

Ha!! Probably both as bad as each other Ernie.

Thanks for the reply anyway, I’m managing to work around it for the time being. It’s just the annoyance factor.
