[Pro] Lightroom 2 slide shows:Possible to embed in FreeWay?

How do I get a Lightroom slideshow to play in a Freeway website. I’v tried exporting the slide show and bringing the swf and index files into the Freeway site directory as well as the images. Any body done this?

Have a look here: http://www.dantucker.co.uk all but one of the galleries
are out of LightRoom 2 using SimpleViewer, then we bought the Pro version so
that it could be customised. The exception is the Pano gallery.

In the end we simply placed the LightRoom sized gallery created index.html
file into an iFrame [Freeway action] and published. This method also means
that Dan can just upload a new gallery without me having to change anything,
very simple and very neat.

Best wishes Peter

Thanks Peter. Do you think I could do a similar maneuver using the Slide Show Pro plugin for Lightroom? I am new to web design, this is my first attempt and it’s slightly overwhelming. I tried importing an xml file into an html box which I had created on a blank page and that didn’t work. I then read the xml file with text editor and pasted it into the html box and even though I did’t get the desired result I did at least get the blue question mark boxes. At least that was encouraging.
Since I am exporting the slide show, I am putting all the files and folders into the site directory. It sounds like i should create an iFrame and cut and paste the index.html code into it. Does that sound right?

P.S. the Dan Tucker site looks great and the photos are breathtaking.

Bill,

Its easy integrating a lightroom gallery into a freeway site.
I’ve used Simpleviewer and Slide Show Pro and there are some good threads for the latter on freewaytalk.
I use an iFrame action as mentioned. With the iframe action URL looking like this: /gallery/index.html. You might have to tweak this in the Edit Hyperlink dialog. Your gallery can have its own designated name if you intend having several different galleries.

Basically you will export out of Lightroom your chosen gallery, upload that gallery folder to your site directory and point the iframe to the index.html within that uploaded folder. The gallery folder (as per simpleviewer) will contain: viewer.swf, a thumb folder, swfobject.js, an images folder, index.html and gallery.xml

A Slide Show Pro folder will contain a few other files. Also to note is that I find SSP a bit slow to load using the iframe route, yet to try using their Director that might be a more efficient option, something for me to try in 2010.

So it sounds like the gallery has to be uploaded, not exported. The iframe will then refer to it as a url. I am thinking of exporting the slide shows to a separate web site for now and calling them in from the Freeway generated site.

I would prefer to preview in the Freeway site if I could arrange the folders within the Freeway site prior to uploading.

You will be able to preview straight off if the exported lightroom gallery is sitting on your computer ie. desktop. By browsing to the index.html in the folder with the iframe action, click on ‘other’ which will open the Edit Hyperlink dialog, then ‘browse’. locate the index file that way.
I don’t use the upload option (though you could) in Lightroom but export the complete gallery to my desktop and then upload seperately to my site.

Of course if you wish to preview the gallery while on your computer thats fine but you will have to edit the hyperlink when it’s finally uploaded.

hope thats a bit clearer.

regards,

s

That’s exactly what I’ve done on Dan’s site.

Simply go to menu:

Insert | Action Item | iFrame,

Set the resulting iFrame box to your desired size.

With the iFrame box highlighted in the Actions palate under URL choose
“other” then choose External in the dialog box, then type in gallery.html.

In your exported LightRoom gallery folder change the default page from
index.html to gallery.html and copy the whole contents to the server loose
in the same folder as your FW page.

Best wishes Peter

You dont have to change the index.html file in the folder that LR exports - you can just upload the whole folder ie gallery and then the ref for the iFrame is gallery/index.html

Does this work equally if Lightroom exports a flash file; or should I only export as html gallery in the Lightroom template?

This method for a Lightroom Flash Gallery which puts the flash slideshow/gallery into an html page (index.html)
