[Pro] Link color while previewing site

Hi everyone,
My links on my site are going to be a certain color. When I go to preview in browser, they show up as purple, which is not the color that I have them chosen to be.
If it helps, I am running OS X 10.5.8, and I am previewing in Safari.
I apologize if this is a total newb question.
Thanks.

How are you setting your Link colours James?

There are a couple of ways to do it - you can set them at page level by choosing the paintbrush icon in the inspector (with nothing selected on the page).

or by using the Text Link Style action attached to an HTML container

There are many others too including making your own Link Styles - but whatever method you choose remember that if you have ‘visited’ a link already you will see the link as its ‘visited’ state not its ‘normal’ one.

DanJ also did a tutorial on the subject that goes into this in a bit more detail.

Hi Dave. Thanks for inquiring about my issue!
When I click on the page itself, in the site folder (on the left hand side of the page) and go to my links, they are set at none, which is strange as I swear I had them set to the color I wanted.

So, I set the links to the color I wanted, and they still are purple in my browser. I even set the color on my Master page, so that should theoretically keep my links all the same color on every page. right?

Can you post a link to a page online so that we can see it ourselves.

If you also set your FW Document Setup>Output>HTML Code:More Readable - we can look at the page source and see what is going on.

I don’t have it online as of yet. I am just previewing it in my browser at this point. The document setup was actually already on what you asked me to set it to.

Do you have some webspace you can put it?

Just to make sure that it is not just a local issue!

Did you also set the Visited state colour for the links? Once you’ve
been to the link destinations your browser will style them as visited
links (default purple), not just as regular links (default blue).

Sorry I haven’t been online in a few days. I do appreciate the help. On the master page, under the links drop down menu, I have everything set as none, with the exception of the “Normal” option, which I have set as my desired color.
Your question makes me wonder if I have to define the visited color to what i want it to be, rather than leave it set as none.

Yes unless you want it to be the default purple. But why not set hover as well?

Hi Dave.
I figured that because I set the link colors that I wanted on the master page, that might keep those settings for every other page I created. I did set the colors (and hover) and they did take hold. So, thank you for your help. The site is coming along, and i’ll probably be ready to put it up, even though it’s partially done, shortly.
I’m already on to my next issue. LOL. You’ll see a thread presently. Thanks you so much for your help.

Yes as long as new pages are based on that Master that should be the case but if you made any changes on any daughter page that will break the link for that setting from the Master.
