I have a graphic link to pdf on one of my pages but when I try to upload my site it stops when it gets to the linked pdf and I get an error message saying “Cannot complete upload because a file could not be uploaded to the server. [553]”
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I am a beginner, so please be gentle with me and speak slowly… ; )
This is just a guess, but take a careful look at the filename of your PDF. Does it include any spaces or punctuation marks? If so, replace those with underscores or nothing at all. Anything in all lower-case letters, and fairly short works as a good test name.
If that doesn’t upload, then try using a good stand-alone FTP application and try to upload the same file. Transmit from http://panic.com is particularly nice, and there’s a 30-day trial period. If that doesn’t work, I’d say you have an issue with your hosting provider.
Forgot to mention, in case you were wondering, you CAN have one dot in
the filename, right before the file-extension pdf. Anything else, just
take it out of the original filename. Freeway uploads the file for you
when you use this Action, but I’m not sure to what extent it will
sanitize the filename for you when it does.
