[Pro] Long product lists in Webyep?

I’m putting together a site for a client at the moment and am going to be using the webyep cms. Webyep itself says thats it’s for small to medium sized businesses, presumably with small numbers of products. Well, my client doesn’t have a huge number of products, but on some of the pages it looks like the user is going to have to scroll down several pages to reach the bottom of the list.

Question is this: to get around a large amount of scrolling, is it possible to create new product pages after a finite number of products has been reached AND/OR is it possible to create a 2 column grid so products can be placed side-by-side thus taking up half the depth?

Thanks in advance

Neil

Have a look at this:

http://www.kimmich-dm.de/beta/blogging/discus-start.php

The blogging themes can be prolounged as long as you want.

To create a new Theme, I add one in the Archiv (on the right). They can be packed together (April)

It appears a new page (empty) to fill with another theme.

Cause the archiv (a wy menu item) is set to “global” all added pages will have that new theme listed.

I think a nice and handy solution that may come close to what you want. If you like to know more, not hesitate to cantact me.

Thanks Thomas

I think I can see what you’re saying - that the additional product page has to be created manually instead of automatically. How would you then get around the navigation problem? I only 1 page is required - navigation isn’t. But if 2 or more are required, then it is!

Have a look at any typical sales site like Amazon for example where lots of products are listed. When there is more than 1 page of products, a small ‘<last 1 2 3 4 next>’ menu appears. How would I do this with WebYep?

Hi Neil,

some things are better done than explained (anyway with my awful english).

the main thought in my example was:

A starting point or overview like we have in the shown link:

There you could say:

Loop 1: Visit our Book-Section
Loop 2: Visit our CD-Section

In the menu on the right side you`ll name instead of the months:

Book-Section, CD-Section as mainpoints
and maybe: Harry Potter, Cooking
and: Jazz, Soul for the “Products” itself

By adding a link to the menu, a new (empty) instance of a predefined site automatically appears. But this new instance is not totally empty - it shows your created link-list elements. That will mean that the increasing menu-tree is in fact your navigation. The empty instance can be filled with all the required products.

I try to build it in my example (the reason I created it) to show you).

Or if you want you can try it yourself (the pass is the default setting admin, passw: leave empty.

I´m sure that this solution can be an option to come closer or even to understand how the things are running.

OK - Neil,

constructed a basic one. Now log in yourself, have a look and try to add (no fear):

a new menu point (from what point you want, it doesn`t matter)

and try to fill the appearing new page (onklick your new product page).

Have fun - it`s quick done and really simple.
