[Pro] longshot- anyone use Disqus & gmail?

Hi

Anyone use the Disqus action for comments on their site and also use gmail for their email?

This is related to Freeway but in a round-about way.

Softpress has created an action to enable Disqus comments as well: Comments - ActionsForge.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean about using Gmail for email. Clarification?

Walt,

The actual disqus messaging system action is all working perfect on my site.

I am having 2 problems…

  1. When someone leaves a comment, I do get a perfect notification sent to my Gmail in-box. No problem there. My problem is a disqus thing… They have a feature that allows you to return the notification email by typing “Approve” in the body. As you long as you just type Approve, it approves the person’s comments and nothing you type shows up. You can approve a comment two ways (This way, or login to your account and go into the settings and apporve). This is a great quick feature to approve each time someone writes something (assuming you have the admin feature turned on to approve all messages first)

My problem is weird, with my gmail account from any computer, it never works. I clear out ALL text in the body and type approve. IT does approve the message but also types my response in the disqus comment area and you see th word approve from me. :frowning:

What is weird is if I do this from my phone. It works perfect; the message just gets approved and you see nothing from me. I amtrying to find the difference between answering an email using gmail from phone vs computer.

  1. My 2nd problem is DIsqus customer service is terrible and never gets back to you- they said they were looking into it; that was 7 days ago.

I thought a long shot would be if someone here…
1)uses disqus AND
2) uses Gmail for email AND
3) has must approve first feature on AND
4) has tested this reply thing…

Ok guys,

the company finally responded and actually may have helped.

In case this helps anyone, what seems to be happening with gmail from a computer is I have RICH Formatting text turned on. because of that with disqus it is putting * in every one of my lines.

Even an email to the company has * on every line (must be a disqus thing) beucase I never heard of my emails sending every line with *

So I hit a button that says PLAIN text and it worked. I lose bold, italics, etc

I guess that is why it works on my phone (maybe no rich text format)
