[Pro] m.website version

HI All,

Would just like confirmation on a development point covering mobile versions of a site.

Already have a desktop version of my site (no probs). We decided to get our m.website (mobile version). So what’s the question you ask?

Because the user experience on a mobile is so unfriendly - had we just brought across the desktop version it would have looked pants, so we had to redesign a new GUI for the mobile experience. Something that’s not too uncommon. Inside FWP where do we start the design? On which tab? Default/Tablet/Landscape/phone?

OR, am I looking at it the wrong way. Do we change the sizes of the page inside FWP to suit the mobile site size and then just start then using the Default tab?

To be clear, I’m only looking to produce code JUST for the mobile/mobile landscape versions and nothing else. Is there a setting that allows that. Or a template for that, so that I don’t end-up producing unwanted code for tablet or Default version?

hope I haven’t confused you
many thanks in advance for all who respond.

Yes

No - if you just want to create a mobile version at 320 wide then do just that. Set your page width at 320 and dont bother with the rest.

And yes there are some iPhone templates that were bundled with FW<6

The new improved way is not to have a m.site at all and make 1 site that is responsive using the Default/Tablet/Landscape/phone tabs

OK David, thanks for that confirmation. I get it now

We initially wanted to do as you suggest, and make it fully responsive, but we operate a web application and use FPW as a starting point. Once we go past our initial pages that could be responsive, and then start to let users interact with the application; it’s virtually impossible to keep it fully responsive from the same design.

that’s a really big help!

thanks, Robert
