How do you make all the items grow together when you enlarge the page rather than have them all end up going over each other creating a mess of text and pictures.

In Safari you need to select which way to Zoom. You can either select that everything zooms or just the text. Make your selection in Safari in the View Menu.
To avoid the mess you’re referring to is to design your site with inline divs also called the box model.
