[Pro] Major crisis ! Page does not show

I have had a page running for a long time without doing any changes.
Since then I have a new computer and Mountain Lion. I have the latest version of Freeway.

Yesterday I wanted to do some minor changes, but got an error when uploading. And somehow my page did not work any more.
I tried to restore the original file from Time machine, but was told that I was not allowed to change the folder on my desktop.

Today I found my previous external disc and transferred a copy of the old files. Everything looks fine on my computer. The preview looks fine and the upload runs OK. But the page is corrupted !

Please help ! I am in the process of doing some marketing and it is really a disaster, if I cannot make this work.

I forgot to say that the ‘preview in browser’ runs perfectly fine, too.

Hi Litta,

nearly impossible to evaluate from afar especially not by the shared page example.

Just a guess:

An Action that requires a live host to work which is outdated.

In fact the “blank white page in browser” experience I only have, if I insert external code by hand (mostly scripts) doing it totally wrong (yeahh - shit happens).

So I would first check all actions on their up-to-date stuff. Then if necessary remove them all. If the page then shows up, apply them back step by step.

Another point is naturally to have an eye on regularly update your copy of Freeway. What version are you running?

If it is a real old one, I think it is then better to get in touch with Softpress towers (support(at)softpress.com).

Cheers

Thomas

What happens if you try and upload again?

I did try uploading again. No change.

As I said, the browser preview is fine. Doesn’t that mean anything ?

The FreewayPro version is up to date (6.0.8)

I really appreciate that you try to help !

I can think of a couple of things could be causing this, but first, what was the error you got when uploading?

General things you should check are:

  1. The home page filename is index.html
  2. The site has been uploaded to the correct directory
  3. The site files are on the server (you’ll need an FTP application such as Cyberduck or Transmit to check this)

Here is a snapshot taken from the ftp application (Yummy): http://www.loslekt.com/misc/snap.jpg

Here you can see all the files on the server and at the top the name of the directory.

I guess, this answers your questions ?

Regarding the error: That was when I first attempted to upload a corrected version, but not now. But that did cause the whole problem.

A snapshot of that, too: http://www.loslekt.com/misc/error.jpg

I find it very strange !

Hmm, strange. You could try deleting the contents of your local Site Folder (or specifying a new one in the Document Setup dialog), and removing all the files from the server and re-uploading from Freeway. To be honest though, I think this might be one for your web host to look at.

Whoops !

I talked to them and the guy said that all the files were empty ??!! I actually never thought of checking.

So what now ?

Where is the problem ?

They are definitely not empty on my computer

I used the ftp app to transfer the files and of course it works now

So the uploading must be the problem.

Maybe a passive/non-passive upload thingy?

I used the automatic setting, when uploading.
