[Pro] Make a kind of template

Hi. I’ve just completed a small site for a customer and now need to make another site for a different part of their business. The new site won’t be exactly the same but I would like it to follow the same look and feel.

Is there and easy way to start the new site but using the CSS styles, page sizes, colours and menu style (I created a CSS menu) I used in the first site.

I suppose what I want to do is create the new site using a duplicate of the master page I built for the first site.

Thanks

Bob.

You can copy Pages/Masters between FW docs.

Make a copy of the FW document of the finished site, and start over.

I tried this once before (different project). I duplicated the site folder and went into the ‘new site’ and started changing things but found that it was making changes to the ‘old site’ as well.

I’ll have another go.

Naturally!!!

… MAKE sure to change the LOCATION of your sitefolder in the document-settings (first tab) to the NEW (duplicated and renamed) folder, otherwise you overwrite the OLD stuff cause Freeway is still pointing there.

What about (not often and long ago tried) to save the master as template and start from that point (this only makes sense if there is only one master in use)?

Cheers

Thanks Thomas,

Getting my head around how it functions now, already worked out what you said and, yes, of course it was going to do what it did when I screwed up the first time. I also duplicated any common resources (logo files etc) and placed them in a new folder and re-pointed so that the second site is self-contained. All is well now and I’m up and running on completing site 2.
