[Pro] Mal's E Commerce Suite

To the wizards of smart;

I am setting up a new cart that combines multi-list/price items, radio or check button and the submit in a table. The table has 7 cells, six to choose from and the seventh - Add to Cart. I have set the 7 cells in the “Form Set Up” action. My first multi-list has 10 items with different pricing’ for each and the the other cells will select color, type, so on and so on. My issue is with the “Buy Now” button. Reading the “Suite’s” manual I have the understanding that the “multi-price/list” action will override the “Buy Now”. button, if the price is different than the “Buy Now” button. However, this is not what is happening. When tested, the price in the shopping cart is the price set up for the button. I have to set a price, in the button, because the action will not along me enter “no price” as an option.

Can anyone help me with this set up? I really need to keep everything lined up as each page can have up to the 30 items per product number.

Is my problem due to having it in a table? If I can’t use the “multi-price/list” action as part of the table and “Buy Now” button I will have to create 4,400 individual items with separate “buy now” buttons. I know there must be a work around.

I uploaded the site so you can see it. The two pages to look at are as follows:

http://www.ergopetdiner.com/gatororder.html

http://www.ergopetdiner.com/uflorder.html

The second page; /uflorder.html was the first page I built and I actually like the look, however, I would have to build over two hundred pages with over 4,400 products - to cover all the teams in the NCAA, NHL, NFL so on and so on.

The first page was my thought to shorten the building time frame, to cover all that I need to cover.

Both pages act the same way. None of the multi-price/list that are selected or clicked on the check boxes show up in the shopping cart. Basically it sees only the submit button. The first page uses tables and the second uses the HTML box. Both have the “Form Setup” action applied.

Does having the Carousel and Newscycle actions have anything to do with it?

I hope this give you more to go on.

Without seeing your FW page it is tricky to see how you have done this but what I can see is that the 10 different prices are not being include within the form that is submitted when the submit button is clicked.

Did you apply the Mal’s Buy Form Setup action to the whole table or just the submit button. Try putting it on the whole table if you haven’t done that already - make sure you only have 1 instance of the action per item group.

Hi David,
The Action you are using on the submit button is intended as a standalone buy button and contains the information for a single product including pricing, shipping etc. For buy forms like yours where you have multiple products or a single product with multiple options you can simply add a regular submit button or graphic to the form. When clicked this will submit the whole form data to the Mals cart as expected.
If you hit and problems with this or want to see an example then feel free to get in touch;

Thanks.

David, yes I applied the “Form Set Up” to the whole table that contains the 7 cells.

Tim, I believe that is the issue and will apply that suggestion.

** Is there a way to see the source code within FW while I am working on the site? When I did a “validator.W3” on the gatororder page it shows 31 errors and the uflorder page show 486 errors. **

How do I fix those errors before uploading?

Again, thanks to the Wizards of Smart.

Hi David,
Freeway won’t let you have direct access to the HTML itself simply because at design-time the code hasn’t been written yet and only gets created when you publish the site or preview a page. Having said that it is quite easy to adjust most things to update the code output. Is there any reason why you have set these pages to XHTML transitional? I would suggest knocking the page level back to HTML 4.01 Transitional and retest.
Also how have you added your meta tags? They appear to be incorrect for the current page level.
Regards,
Tim.

Tim, thanks.

I set the page based on the Dan Jasker Screen Cast for Carousel. As for the Meta Tags, I used your “Add Meta Tags” action, What is wrong?

Hi David,
Try the Meta Plus Action instead as it writes the correct code for the page HTML level and offers more features than the Action you are currently using.

As an aside you also want to change your settings for the Continue Shopping link which currently takes you to http://www.ergopetdiner.com/success.html

Tim:

Downloaded the Meta Tag Plus and applied to page. Removed the Mal’s Buy Button and replaced with simple submit button. I also back down the page to your suggestion of HTML 4.01 Transitional.

When I tested the page in preview and I got back “ERROR: Link verification failed” page.

I went back to my Mal’s account and verified that the “link verification” is turned off. It is. I even re-submitted the page just to make sure.

Went back and re-tested page, and got the same result. At least before the change, it was going to the shopping cart. Any I idea as to why I am now getting this message?

DeltaDave: I agree. Before I upload for good I will make a page determination. Thanks.

I really appreciate what you did for me. I just applied the table to my site and I am building 10 schools on top of the one. I believe I understand what I need to do now to make it work. I’ll send you a note one way or the other as to the outcome.

Thanks,

Thank you, now I have noticed that the text will continue outside of the specified area on the iPods.
Is there any way to restrict the size of that input text box so it will be limited to a creation amount of characters?
