[Pro] Mal's Ecommerce + Yahoo's webserver?

Hi,

I’m re-designing a website and using Mal’s ecommerce in Freeway. I just tested it in browser on a test page (http://www.muntjacpress.com/test/books.html) on my clients’s exisiting website which is hosted with Yahoo and it isn’t working. I’m wondering if there are compatibility issues with Yahoo servers and Mal’s ecommerce?) It also won’t let me upload some other files so the background, logo and header are missing.

"FREEWAY CONFIG

The shopping cart will automatically attempt to load a new configuration file when you change your settings in Freeway.

Sorry, it was not possible to load your new configuration: It was not possible to connect to your webserver at:

http://www.muntjacpress.com
Please login to Admin and correct the URL in Your details"

I have previously designed websites using Mal’s Ecommerce and they work absolutely fine with the hosting company I normally use. (ineedwebhosting.co.uk who are brilliant but the client is wanting to stick with Yahoo.)

The only difference I can see that could be affecting the shopping cart is using Yahoo host the website and maybe it’s just not compatible with Mal’s Ecommerce or Freeway Pro.

If anyone has any solutions to this I’d be extremely grateful.

Thanks

Mog

Hi Mog,
You are in a bit of an odd position with this page at the moment as I can see that the images that are missing from the top of the page are looking for a Resources folder in the parent (root) directory of the server. I suspect this is because these items are common over your site and rather than duplicate them and add them again to your Resources folder inside the test folder it simply links to the original files in the parent location. The answer is to upload the Resources folder that lives in the top level of your site and these images should show up.

On the Mals front the error you are seeing is because the Mals cart can’t locate the config file the Actions create. If you enter the address of your site (remembering to add in the test folder) in the Document Setup dialog then it should be able to locate it and the error should go away.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your help. Copying the resources folder to the parent folder has done the trick so that’s great.

I have added the test folder to the address in the document setup: http://www.muntjacpress.com/test

However still not luck.

I also tried http://www.muntjacpress.com/test/

but that didn’t work either. Also when I tried to upload the more files to the test folder I got this:

FTP Error: Upload failed

553-The name you specified is not allowed.
553-Names must contain only ASCII letters (a-z,A-Z), digits (0-9), underscore, dot and dash.
553-Names must not start with a dot (.) or dash (-).
553-For additional info please visit:
553-See Help for your Yahoo Account
553 .

The files I have that include the above are _blank.gif, _siteinfo or _clear.gif

If Yahoo doesn’t accept these files does that mean there are incompatibility issues or can I omit these files from the server?

Thanks

Mog

Ok I just worked out I need to load the malsettings.cfg to the parent folder too so now malsetting config successfully loaded but I’d still be grateful for any advice regarding the error message:

FTP Error: Upload failed (see my message above for details)

Thanks
