[Pro] Mal's Ecommerce

Hi,

I have set up a shop and uploaded but I am not getting the ‘Freeway Config’ (success or not) message at all when I go to the cart.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be?

I seemed to fix it by using the E-buy text action rather than Mal’s Buy Text Link Action (which has more options) perhaps this was the issue.

Hi there,

I’m working on a site and need to integrate mals e-commerce cart very similar to the way you’ve used it on the www.thebridalparty.ie - is there any chance you could send instructions (for non coder) of how you managed this, even a Freeway file to show?

Many thanks for any help,

Martin

Hi Martin,

I am horribly snowed under at them moment, I will do what I can to help.

Firstly, is a Mal account set up? And, is it a free or premium account?

Hi Sly,

Totally understand workload/commercial pressure - just reply if you get a moment.

Basically website is set up with buy now buttons and I’ve bought Tim Plumbs suite of e-commerce actions.

I’ve subscribed to mal’s e-commerce and am at the point where I can link a product and get the standard grey shopping cart.

I’m confident I can get the cart looking the way I want but was wanting to integrate the cart pages visually with rest of the site and this is what I’m unsure about.

Tim suggests using an action that forces Freeway to overide the pages of mal’s cart - but again I’m not sure how to do this.

Thanks for any help,

Martin

Hi Martin,

If you are using a Mals pro account you get more options in styling your cart. Rather than just changing the header image and colours you can upload your own HTML so the cart can look exactly like the rest of your site. This is what Sly has done.

Design your cart page in Freeway to look like the rest of the site and use the Remote Resources Action to point the page to the images and css that you’ve uploaded to your server. Now when you paste the html from this page into the Mals admin area the cart should look just like the rest of your site.

I don’t have access to a pro account at the moment but I suspect you have to insert tokens or markers in the page so Mals knows where to place the products descriptions and prices etc.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim,

A couple of queries, sorry if they’re obvious:

Once I design my cart page in Freeway where do I get the HTML to paste into Mal’s?

Would this be a separate Freeway page or included as one of my main website pages?

Thanks,

Martin

Preview the page in a web browser and choose to view the page source. You can then copy this code into the Mals cart admin area.

It is up to you. You can include this in your main Freeway site although it will only be ever seen in the Mals cart context. Alternatively you can create a new freeway file and use this to create the cart page. Personally I would opt for the second option as it won’t interfere with your site should you want to create a site map, or site search function.

Tim.
