On this page you can see the accordion navigation menu with working rollovers (only in the stainless section for products). Now navigate to any other page, and they don’t work!
The menu is set up on the master page with rollovers set to show on mouseover, but on every ‘child’ page they are set to show normally. This means that I have to go through every page copying and pasting a correct menu which is a bit of a pain in the arse. So why aren’t the master item settings carrying over to the child pages?
Sounds to me the master items setting aren’t carrying over because you have made changes to them on the child pages. If you go to child pages and make changes to the menu, which resides on the Master Page, then you have totally blown the relationship to the master page settings. You need never make changes to those menus when on a child page. If you go to a page that is giving you problems and click on that menu, you will probably notice in the Inspector Pallet that “Use Master Settings” is unchecked. To correct this you can choose the items on the child page and put a check in the “Use Master Settings” box.
I usually lock the master page items one at a time to prevent accidental movement while on a child page. A simple one pixel nudge will cause loss of the relationship.
Nope, no changes on the child pages. I’d placed a totally new navigation menu onto the master page along with rollover settings correctly set. The menu has appeared correctly on all the child pages but the rollover settings haven’t.
Some of these pages I have been messing around on and I did have to manually place the menu, but others haven’t been touched at all and still don’t work!
I’m resurrecting this thread because I’m having the same problem again. Last time I just accepted that I would have to modify each page individually.
I’m working on the same site which has css menus (moo accordion last time), web yep elements and a carousel, all set inline. The carousel contains inline images each set with a rollover.
The rollovers work fine as a standalone page, this page was then 'make master…'d and then several new child pages spawned from it. The problem is the rollover settings have changed from the normal state being invisible to it being visible on each of the child pages. The pages haven’t been modified in any way and the master page still shows the correct settings.
