I have a box and set it in the page and I need it to be a certain distance from the top, bottom, left and right.
I set the rulers to the top left and measure in. From the bottom left and measure in. But when I set the ruler for the right or bottom, I get negative measurements on the guides, which is fine, but when I click on the guide and try to change the number from, say, -78, to -80 (80 px from the right) FW says that won’t work.
I’m just positioning it in FW as a static box. The box doesn’t have to be a particular size, but it does have to be a certain distance from the edge of the page all around.
So, a box, centered on the page 80px in from all the edges of the page, for instance.
I think it depends on how you draw your box - what the parent item of your
box is. You must draw your box onto a parent box to set its position like
that in Freeway Pro.

The problem is that the web doesn’t work like a printed page where you can position items in that way.
You can use 2 of those ie top and left or bottom and right - but these will be from the edge of the browser window
The way to visualise this for yourself is by drawing a bordered box the size of your FW page. Now place an item on the ‘page’ and try different position settings while previewing in the browser.
Just try measuring a specific amount, again, say 80px, from the right side of your page using the ruler and putting a guide at that point.
If I do that and place a guide at around 80 (which is -80 on the measurement) and click my guide, discover it’s not exactly 80 px, I can’t just type in 80 (or -80) it won’t accept it.
Without trial and error guide placement, how can I place a guide on the right or bottom of the page exactly where I want it.
This is all in FW and has nothing to do with viewing in a browser or anything.
With your page original co-ordinates not set at the true origin of the page you want to set your guide position via the dialogue box and it wont let you.
This may be a bug as FW assumes a negative value will put the guide off the page.
Simple answer is to set guide positions with your origin at top left using simple arithmetic.
A peculiarity that I wouldn’t think twice about.
I would ‘draw’ a container the size of the inset I want and position it on the page and then drag my guide to it.
This appears to be a bug. Well spotted Robert. Freeway should be able to map the position of the guide to the page regardless of the position of the ruler origins.
I’ll get this bug logged.

Tim.
