[Pro] Media and Resources Folder

Is there a way to clean out a media folder of no longer used items or sync it to the resources folder?

Thanks, Jacob

The Media folder that’s created when you make a site from a template
is JUST there to encourage you to be tidy with your original media.
It is NOT a magic folder in any way whatsoever. If you have things in
there that are no longer used in your site then throw them away. But
don’t throw them out if you’re not sure!

Anything in the Site Folder is handled ENTIRELY by Freeway, and you
really should not move things about there. If you remove an image
from your layout, Freeway will remove the web-optimised output
version of that from within the Site Folder (inside some Resources
folder) - automatically and without help - the next time you preview,
publish or upload.

The Media folder is not magic, and you can use it how you like.
The Site Folder IS magic; leave it entirely to Freeway.

Just looking for a way to clean out that media folder without
cleaning out something that doesn’t need to be cleaned out. It looks
like a bit of a tedious job to do so. No quick and easy way to do it?

Thanks,
Jacob

Sure. Just use the File / Save Archive command. That will give you a
new document, a new Media folder with only the images you’ve used, and
a new site folder with a copy of the site in it. You can throw the old
project folder out and rest assured that anything that was in your
site is now in the new Media folder.

Try;
File, Save Archive and then close and dump your old copy of the
Freeway file. The newly created archive copy will only contain files
that the site requires.

Tim.

Thank you Tim and Walter. BTW, just to clarify, the archive contains
an empty site folder. I needed to publish to recreate the site folder.

Thanks,
Jacob

Correct. What the archive process doesn’t do is to gather any fonts or
actions that the site may need to publish. You should consider
archiving these either with the project or in a common area should you
need them in years to come.
I’d like to see the application give the user the option to gather
these items (probably with the usual copyright warnings) as an option
in a future release but for now it isn’t too big of a job to gather
these manually.
Regards,
Tim.
