That totally depends on what you want to do with the log in information/user once they are in there.
Is it just to create pages that are only accessible to your members or will different members access different content.
If the first then using a cPanel feature ofPassword Protected Directories can allow you to designate a folder on your server that requires user/pass to get in.
If the latter then you may well want to look at one of the custom scripts that are readily available.
