What is the “Required” check box in the menu/list inspector palette supposed to do? I’m using a list in conjunction with a Mal’s form, and I assumed it would prevent an item from being added to the cart unless a “variation” were selected. I have tried leaving the initial field blank. I have tried un-checking the “initially selected” button. If that’s not the way to accomplish that, is there another way?
Here’s one example. All I want is for the shopper to have to make a selection from the list(s), metal, ring size, before the item can be added to the cart. In other words, that a selection is “required,” but that doesn’t seem to be what is meant by that check box. Unfortunately, neither the Freeway 5 Reference nor the "What’s New in 6’ guide have anything to say about it.

Dont think that this can be done in its standard form - better to have a default item/specification with a label next to it telling the visitor to choose an option (otherwise they get the default metal and size). They of course will have the option to amend/delete at the cart stage.
Roy Gardiner had this same problem back in 2010 and found:
Freeway’s Support has indicated that the Validate and Validate Extras Actions won’t work with the E-Buy Form. They currently do not have a work around.
That’s still the case. The same thread contained some Java from Walt that I might be able to edit to suit my needs.
