[Pro] Mootools

Hey all
I was going to use Mootools and wanted to make the background white instead of the black. Is this possible? Thanks all

I think you’ll need to be more specific. What needs to be a white background instead of black? How does MooTools relate to this issue?

Hi Dan
ok I mean Mootools Slimbox action. When the image opens to larger the background around the image becomes black smoky translucent . I would like that black background to be white translucent. I have seen it on other websites.
Thanks for any advice

I mentioned this recently in another thread, but this could help here as well.

Weaver has a Lightbox action that plays nicely with the Freeway Action files at http://www.coastalrugs.com/Actions/misc.actions.html

This action allows you to select the colour of the semi-transparent background you asked about. It’s in the ‘Sticky Effects’ section when you click on the disclosure triangle.

For an example try clicking on any of the pictures at http://www.dundeemuseumoftransport.co.uk/gallery/events2010/

The only minor catch is that you need to make sure you add the Protaculous page action (set to Scriptaculous packed) to provide it with the necessary files to work.

Hey Gordon

ok maybe I misunderstand what you may be talking about. All I know is that Mootools does not work with Scripty lightbox so I suppose I was trying to use the wrong action. I did download the lightbox action from weaver misc actions
but cannot find it to use it.

I am lost in the actions

Hi Carla

If you have downloaded and installed the Lightbox action from Weaver’s site then it should appear in your Actions menu.

Click on the photograph you want to apply the Lightbox action to (little squares appears round its edge). From the ‘Items’ menu at the top of the screen select 'Actions" and the sub-menu should appear. In this list, if your action has been properly installed you should see ‘Pic to Lightbox Image’. Select this and then set up the action the way you want in the usual window.

As an added bonus Lightbox also lets you use a piece of text to open a Lightbox window as well. This time simply click in the run of text where you would like the text link to appear (don’t highlight any text). Then, from the ‘Insert’ menu at the top of the screen select ‘Action Item’ and then you should see ‘Link to Lightbox image’. A blue rectangle will appear in your run of text. Click on this and then set up the action the way you want in the actions palette.

Please let me know how you get on.

All the best

Hi Carla

I’ve been trying to test things out here and It seems that either the action or Freeway are quite fussy on how the action is installed.

The only way I could get it to be recognised was by manually copying the file ‘lightbox.fwactionb’ to [user]/Library/Application Support/Freeway 5/Actions

After that it showed up in the menus I referred to before.

Hopefully it’ll all be worth it in the end!

Hi Carla,

I followed your adventurous discussion about the possibilities of lightboxing in Freeway.

First - I personal feel somewhat disappointing that nobody (including) Softpress shares a proper working, easy using solution on a really basic, common and trillions used stuff.

Even Softpress itself using something different on their page (FancyZoom if I’m correctly oriented).

But now the facts:

If you like to go the way Gordon ment, you need to remove mootools-action suite first (cause the lightbox is part of the suite too). After this you should in fact have two actions (one the pic to lightbox (over item - actions) and a link to lightbox (over the insert - actions dialogue).

What’s nice in that action:

You can have a set of images, navigation prev and next. And yes - you can change your overlay color to what you need. If you need to get control over the opacity you can create a tag style (refer on the trillions other threads here on how to do) called:

#overlay

extended:

name: opacity
value: 0.50 !important (play with the amount 0.01-1.00)

What I dislike here is that you can’t directly control the size of your lightbox image - it shows the size the image originally has. But I’m sure that this could be controlled via styles as well.

ScriptyLightbox as un imperfect but basic working alternative gives you the control of your lightbox size, but nothing more. To get control on the overlay color and opacity you need to create tag styles as well. How to, please refer on the lightbox threads in here where I several times wrote the “how to”.

What I miss here is that I’m still unable to create a gallery (prev, next) and that I’m unable to add captions to each images. It might be fact I’m too dumb … but I haven’t found out yet.

If both, based on prototype, nicely playing with Scripty and FX … could be combined to a one and only ScriptyLightbox with all benefits the Basic Script offers - this would be a charm - isn’t it.

Cheers

Thomas

Mootools Suite - Slimbox has custom sizes option to the images. In the Action Pallete it’s under Popup Controls Max popup sizes. Also gallery prev next is in the suite. So only feature that stand alone has over suite is the color. Weaver should add that in. I also like the link to lightbox. Didn’t know about that one. Thanks for the tips.

Yes but mootools does not work with scripty and FX - so tight viewed - limited useable.

Thomas
thanks for all your input.so eliminating mootools suite to get lightbox is not a good solution for me since I use Mootools for a few sites. So this is what I did. I have showcase gallery! and that does have options for color background, and I have control over size of images thumb and larger.
I think I will stay with this option.
I just wish I had contol over the arrows design, instead of hiding them. this is my next adventure!
I so appreciate all your advise. really

There is a file called controls.png contained within the action itself that you could replace with your own version to change to a look you preferred.

But this would change all arrows etc. in every showcase you use.

Oh Dave really! I tried to find controls.png. can’t seem to find it… in the General or appearance settings in Showcase?

Yes I would prefer that the arrows are not on top of the image as they are in now

Thx Dave

No it is buried within the action itself.

Right click the application>Show package contents

Contents>Shared Support>Actions>Fast>Showcase.fwactionb

Right click Showcase.fwactionb>Show package contents

Contents>Resources>Actions>Resources>controls.png

I will email you the file so that you can play about with it in PShop or whatever before you take the plunge and replace it in the action. Keep a copy of the original so that you can put it back if it all goes belly up.

This is what it looks like

showcase_controls

Make sure that you do not alter the overall dimensions or the positioning of each ‘button’ or it wont display properly after tweaking.

BTW - this will not alter the positioning of the arrows but the look of them.

So if you dont want them on top of your images then this is NOT going to do it for you.
