[Pro] navbar and html

I have a simple site but look to make it more complex and attractive. I use a white html box on all my pages in order to have a contrast between the live portion of my page and the surrounding background.

I’m using a text nav bar now but would like to create a navbar that uses rollovers. Can that be accomplished “on top of” an html box?

Thanks very much.

Simple answer is yes.

You can use the Menu Bar action or the CSS Menu action (both standard Pro actions) - either can be layered (on top) of your white html box background.

You might also want to have a look at the Softpress Frame a Page Tutorial http://www.softpress.com/support/tutorials/

Thanks, David.

Should the html box be made a layer for either approach? And if so my guess is that everything else on the page must be layered.

Thanks,

Yes layer the menu but you do not have to layer other stuff on the the page unless you want anything on top of your menu.

Only layers can go on top of other layers - table based items will be behind layered items

Understood, thanks again. And I checked the tutorial. A great refresher. I actually knew how to do a rollover two years ago but had forgotten. I’ll be looking at other video tutorials; thanks for the intro.

But the CSS Menu action means that you dont actually have to create individual rollovers - only background images for the CSS menu.

The tutorial I was actually pointing you towards was the ‘Frame a Page’ one that will show you how to get the page effect that you want without having to draw a background white html box to colour your page area.

Great. I thought that what I was doing was rather clunky. Thanks.
