[Pro] New Upload Options

Would someone please explain the advantages of the new upload options compared to the old options?

Thanks,

For starters, you can use SFTP to contact your server. FTP is
inherently insecure, because the password is sent over the public
internet in plain text, and if you are on a shared server, it is
comically trivial for someone else on the same server to listen for it
and gain access to your account.

For another thing, the old dance of “if it doesn’t upload in regular
FTP, switch to Passive, and vice-versa” has been codified and
automated into the “Automatic” setting.

Seriously, if you host doesn’t provide SFTP uploads (and ideally they
should keep you from using vanilla FTP) then consider changing hosts.
If you can’t, make up a new user just for uploads that has no other
privileges than saving files in your Web root (using your cPanel) and
always use that account to manage your uploads.
