[Pro] "No such page" message

I modified the web site which is now on line: www.joepalsa.com. I copied that existing site, gave it a new name, saved it, changed the size of all the pages. As I’ve worked on it for a few weeks, I’ve constantly checked it on line through the Browser setup - everything worked. Today I gave the site a new first page. As I check it online the first page comes up and after about 4 seconds it goes off and I get a message that there is no such page and it cannot be found. This happens on every browser. I have had a new name for the site since I’ve been working on it but only today changed the first page. I notice that the name of the site in menu is the same as the name of the old site which I originally copied. I’m not sure how to change the name of the site to the new name.

Hi Joe -

Did you fix this? When I go to the site, the index page (joe palsa) loads
and then kicks me over to the about page – which seems normal.

I haven’t put up the site which I’m trying to fix.

I COPIED THE SITE THAT IS UP called Site 1 in Freeway and gave it a new name, Site 2. I then added a new 2nd page to the Site 2. I then eliminated page 1 from SITE 2. Because Site 2 has a new first page, Freeway does not recognize the first page as Page 1. I’m not sure what went wrong or why the renamed site has the old name. I’m not sure how to change the name of the site to the new name or how I can fix this.

I hope this makes sense.

The File name of the first page in your site should be index.html

FW automatically gives this filename to the first page that you create in a folder no matter what you have put as the Title.

If the first page you create has the Title ‘Home’ then that first page will still be index.html

However just because you create a new page and give it a Title of ‘Home’ doesn’t automatically give it the File name of index.html. FW will helpfully give it the File name of home.html

You can only have unique page names so there will only be 1 page with the File name of index.html - the new page you created with the Title of ‘New Home Page’ will have the File name of newhomepage.html

So to solve your problem change the File name of your old ‘First Page’ to oldindex.html and then change the File name of your New First Page to index.html
