[Pro] Old Actions w/ FW7

I’m just getting started w/ FW7. It looks promising, but I’m really scratching my head. General question… Should I try to re-download each and every action, or is it okay to attempt to import my older actions and hope for the best? What about actions that were purchased?

I’m sure in time all the action websites will update for FW7, but what are you smart people doing in the meantime?

BTW, I’m upgrading from FW 5.5 (I skipped version 6 altogether). Thanks!

It’s going to depend a whole lot on the Action, and what it does to the document while publishing. But most things that work for 6 should work for 7, at least superficially.

It will take some time for Action developers to get up to speed on things like responsive breakpoints (should their Action need to care about that detail), we’ve only just gotten a reference in the form of the CSS Menus Action for how to program against the new API methods.

The best advice I can give you is to move them over as you find you need them (and when you do, check the Forge to see if there is a newer version than the one you have), see how they go, and report back at ActionsForge or here when they don’t. Developers do this mostly for free, out of love, and don’t have unlimited time to test every possible combination.
