[Pro] Opening Freeway Pro 5.65 file in Freeway Pro 6

Hi all,

Just had a bit of an issue with opening a large (158MB) Freeway Pro 5.65 file in Freeway Pro 6.11, in that it as yet hasn’t opened.

It seems to be stuck on “Checking updated Actions” Dialogue box. It has been stuck on this so far for 45 minutes.

I know it is a rather large file, but should it take this long to process.

I have a 17" MacBook Pro, Late 2011, so it’s not slow!

I’m just trying it on my Mac Pro Dual quad core, this time I’ve stripped all the actions that were in the Freeway Library folder and it seems to be opening quicker - the progress has gone on to “Updating document”, so it could be working OK. If it does open OK I’ll save it and update the Actions back to what was in the Library/Application Support/Freeway Pro/Actions/General folder. (I did save a copy!)

Fingers crossed…

Cheers, Steve.

A Quick Update…

My Mac Pro has now locked up without finishing the Updating of the Freeway document.

Looks like I’ll have to restart it and try again…

I’ll just say that I think the simplest approach to your situation is to
continue the site in 5, and as a separate project, begin a rebuild in 6.

The two versions are so different that I can easily see how large, complex
files fail to convert - though it is likely some specific aspect is
kiboshing your file. This approach would let you maintain the live site
with 5 while mastering the differences of 6. Btw, the forum is full of
advice on running both apps simultaneously. I still have both, though I
cannot remember the last time I touched FWP5.

Best,

Hi, The Big Erns, You’ll be pleased to know that the site has finally opened up in Freeway 6, I’ll have to have a good look through the site so see what issues it has.

Like you say, a rebuild in Freeway 6 is probably best a because you start with a clean slate and hopefully get it working on a responsive basis and in html 5.

I sometimes have both Freeway 5 and 6 running and can honestly say that Freeway always plays very well with its older siblings!

Cheers,

Steve.
