[Pro] Opening windows

I use Freeway just about every day. It would be really nice (for me) if on opening, the Inspector, Colours and Actions windows opened automatically. Can I make this happen?
Thanks, Paul

They take on whatever form they were in when Freeway last quit. So if you want to ensure that they are open when you start back up, deliberately switch into Freeway and File/Quit. Then the next time you start up Freeway, the windows will be open just where you left them. The reason you are seeing them hidden is because Freeway is remembering their state from when you quit, and if you don’t have Freeway in “front”, all of its palettes and daughter windows will be hidden, so it remembers that.

They do for me!

If you look under the Window menu there is a setting ‘Save Default Window’ - set up your palettes etc. and then choose that setting.

First of all, thanks Walter for your contribution to this thread.
I have a further question on this topic. Following the above excellent advice, the windows open as expected when Freeway is closed and reopened. However, if the computer is shut down and then Freeway opened, the windows still don’t open automatically?

You have to bring Freeway to the front (before you shut down) and quit it manually from the Freeway menu while its windows and palettes are visible. Since the palettes are keyed to Freeway being the front application (they disappear when you click on the desktop or elsewhere) the issue is that if the Finder quits Freeway during the shut-down process, it won’t bring Freeway to the front when it does so. And that means that Freeway sees the last state of the palettes as being hidden, and memorizes that during the quit for next time.

Thanks Walter. I’ll try this. It does seem rather odd behaviour though. Perhaps it is something that Freeway might consider in a future version? If one always likes the windows open when using Freeway, that should be an intrinsic Freeway setting?
Cheers, Paul
