[Pro] OSX 10.5.6 update and Cursor issues

Anyone updated to OSX 10.5.6 ?

I’ve noticed that Freeway at some seemly random point permanently displays the Magnifying Glass as the default pointer icon.

Only a re-start seems to fix it.

Any one else awarer of this issue?

Hi David,

Do you mean 10.6.5? I haven’t noticed this problem, you sure you’re not holding control and shift, or have the Zoom tool selected when it happens?

…no keys selected but the cursor remains as the glass, I can select text OK, and swap tools.

Ah, hah… Photoshop contrains a brush paint to horizontal/vertical , so its like you say holding control and or shift (but not actually doing so).

weird.

This is the 3rd time its happened since updating to 10.5.6 yesterday.

Only a re-start fixes things.

Its done it again if Freeway . This is so annoying, when starting up Photoshop it asks to delete the preferences.

Its like OSX is holding the control-option-shift down permanently.

Tried that and it’s not the keyboard. Or pressing shift 5 times for sticky keys as someone else suggested.

Today there is no Freeway work and the problems is not present yet on any app ~ perhaps because Freeway has not been opened? I’m going to open Freeway later and see if this causes the issue again.

Found the issue:-

Using ctrl-alt-space for Cultured Code’s Things quick entry window make the keys stick permanently in OS X 10.6.5. For me at least.

Glad you found the problem. I did think it was unlikely to be Freeway causing it

Seems its an OSX issue with CGEventPost(kCGSessionEventTap, …);

Whatever application uses this API may trigger…

Not just me with the problem a 10.6.5 problem

Jesper Storm Bache has kindly posted a small app on one of Adobe’s forums that works around this bug in the CGEventPost API in 10.6.5 by resetting the option, shift, command and control keys:
