[Pro] page speed issues: leverage browser caching

Hello everyone,
I am optimizing my Freeway Pro made website http://www.oudevalutas.com , (language is Dutch but you can enjoy the pictures  )I’m currently focusing on page speed. Using Firefox add-on Page Speed to calculate scores. I’m not doing very bad with scores ranging between 80/100 and 90/100, there is however still room for improvement.

One of the things Google Page Speed advises me to improve in is ‘leverage browers caching’ Here follows a quote from Page Speed:

“[Score: 2/100]
Leverage browser caching
The following cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime. Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources:”

and then a list of resources follow. How can I specify an expiration? Is this possible with Freeway? Has someone got any tips for improving speed?

Thank you in advance. Feedback is very much appreciated.

I don’t think you can control this on your end. Your server administrator could probably tweak the server to send longer cache lifetime headers with requests for these resources, but that’s thoroughly out of your hand in a static HTML site.

I dont think that this will ever be something that FW itself can do.

The most common way is to add some code to a file called .htaccess on your web host/server. This means going to the file manager (or wherever you go to add or upload files) on your webhost.
