the problem may have been that I just hadn’t previewed the material before uploading it!
When you upload, the first thing that happens is Freeway build your pages, then uploads.
When you preview, the first thing that happens is Freeway builds your pages, then opens the current one in a browser.
When you publish, the first thing that happens is Freeway builds your pages, then nothing else happens.
No idea what happened in your case, but the above processes always happen when you choose those steps.

once I saved the files I uploaded them
Are you not using FW’s own upload feature? Any particular reason why not?

It was nice to see such helpful replies in the late evening when I thought no one would be around to respond.
Time is relative - what was late evening to you is morning to someone else (or even later).
Amazing thing the WWW - so many people from so many places connected by the ether.

Thanks Keith for the above steps (nice panorama from the paraglider).
Dave, I’m working on an internal server and just found it handier to use Transmit as I already had it set up. However, I have also used the FWP ‘Publish’ feature but sometimes there is a delay with the pages going live. Don’t know why, perhaps just some internal issues.
Thank you both for your responses.

The problem with Transmit is that to ensure that you get every file or folder that has changed you really need to upload the whole lot.
FW’s upload facility manages all the files for you - it is a no-brainer.

Dave - you are exactly right. I’ve tried both and it does work that way! I’ll be trying it again when I’m next uploading content and will check out the ‘delay’ problem. If that is resolved then definitely I’ll be using the ‘publish’ feature of FWP in future!

It is not File>Publish that you want - that only publishes locally to your Site folder on your HD.
You want File>Upload - that puts the files on your server, or wherever you have specified in File>Document Setup>Upload
