[Pro] PHP Easiform- Confirmation Email Problem

Hi,

I’ve just got my form working in Demo mode with the PHP easiForm action, the only problem is that the confirmation email sends from the senders email address no matter which setting I use. I would really like to send it from the recipient email address.
At the moment its set to “use recipient email” in the confirmation options.

Thanks
Pam

Hi Pam,

You are right, I see that it will always use the senders email even if
the setting is set to use the recipients.

This must be a bug in the code and I will need to take a look at it to
correct it, I will try and do that over the next couple of days.

I think it is always best to send the confirmation email from the
senders email, it is just a confirmation. This way someone who sends
spam has less chance of getting your email address. Take the example
where someone just sends a email to you to try and get the email
address, so they get a confirmation email from your address, they can
then just add the address to their spam list. I know this can happen
if you where to reply to someone also but if the confirmation on your
form has not your email address then they cannot use it, that gives
you time to see the email that was sent and decide if it is a
legitimate email or not and then reply to the message if it is
considered legitimate, it does not make it infallible but it helps.

… Anyway, the option for you to use your email as the email the
confirmation is sent from is in the action and so it should work, as I
mentioned I will look at this over the next couple of days.

Thanks Mike,

I don’t really want to send the reply from the senders address, but I also don’t want spam, do you think its important to have an auto reply.
When the message is sent it should go to the thanks page, so is that sufficient if I maybe add on that page that I will respond as soon as possible?
Your probably going to tell me its a personal choice but I’d thought I’d ask your opinion anyway

Pam,

It only adds a little more to help cut down on spam, it is not to say
that people would use it for the purpose of getting your email… but
there are people out there that would, so every little bit extra that
helps cut down on that the better.

You do not need to use a confirmation email but I think it can be
helpful, sending the user to a thanks page is generally enough but I
know some times I do a lot of contacting people over a couple of hours
some days and find the confirmation actually helps me keep track and
so probably give that company more of a chance of me contacting
them… up to each individual I guess.
