I have a site that I created in FW6 that I want to “mobilise” in FW7. I’ve published the site, but when I Preview a page, all I get is a white (ie empty) window.
I’m probably going to rebuild the whole site from the ground up, taking the move to FW7 to be an opportunity to do a bit of tidying up, but it would be useful to know if there’s any particular reason that a site converted from FW6 to 7 won’t Preview…
Just to clarify, are you previewing in Freeway or in a browser? If it’s just in Freeway, try previewing in browser to see if that works. A couple of things to try that might help if you’re still having no luck:
Go to the Page menu and choose Force republish and try previewing again.
If that doesn’t work, go to the File menu and holding Control, select Publish Everything.
Cheers,
Joe

Force Republish (Page) - still doesn’t preview in FW7
Publish Everything - still no Preview in FW7
I don’t know if this means anything, but after trying these last 2, if I try and preview one of the non-index pages, a filled dot appears next to index in the left hand site pane.
I tried opening up another of my older (smaller) sites, and that Previewed ok, so it’s something specific about this site - maybe one of the several plugins I’m using?
As I said, I am going to redesign the layout of this site, so I don’t need to get this version working in FW7. Obviously it would be useful for you to know what’s going wrong though. Should I email you the site? (Or perhaps the whole folder, via Dropbox?)
Hmm. I got the same problem when I copied over the elements of the index page into a clean template, so I started removing elements to see if one of them was causing the problem.
As soon as I removed a frame containing an .swf file everything works ok.
I’ve been wanting to replace the two .swf movies on the site for a while, so now’s the time!
Hah. It’s a time to clean up your Flash feature! It’d be great if you could stick it up on dropbox and send it into support(a)softpress.com for someone to have a look at.
Thanks,
Joe
