[Pro] (Pro) Carousel no show

Hi, newbie to this great site, I’ve just upgraded to 5.5 and noticed my carousel actions don’t work when I upload, I’ve had no message or warning, just no action happening. I don’t really want to start building the carousel’s again so I’ve just left the site in the older freeway. Help.

Hi I’ve attached my site, the carousel in question is on the services page, I tried to update the site in 5.5 but it just didn’t work so I’ve left the site in the older freeway which is annoying but works. www.creativedge.org

Thanks for helping

Just had a quick look and it seems to be working fine when I’m looking at it. What part is it thats not working?

Sorry I’m not getting the problem across very well, It works great now but when I upload the site with 5.5 the carousel action just stops and when you click on an area, the next it appears but not in a carousel action.
Thanks

Maybe try uploading the malfunctioning one to another folder then folk might be able to see the issue.
Put a link on once you’ve uploaded.

Cheers for now

You have a fundamental error on some of your pages. I’m pretty sure it’s not because of Carousel, I don’t see any instances of Carousel on the pages where the error appears.

Here’s a way to try to fix it.

First, do a Save As, and give yourself a new version of the document to work with. Then you can always drop back to the other one if this branch doesn’t work somehow.

Next, in the Document Setup dialog, create a new Site Folder, so this site doesn’t share anything with the previous version.

Now, go through each page in the site and remove all instances of the various Scripty, Protaculous, and FX Actions. Be sure to note (copy and paste into a scratch text document) any custom coding such as those you might have added in the Protaculous Function Body editors. Make certain you find every single instance of each Action. You may leave all the extra elements lying around on the pages, as you’ll be coming right back and adding everything back in a moment.

Publish once.

Finally, go back through the pages and build up your effects again. For any Carousels, apply the Carousel, Carousel Pane, and other navigation functions and re-configure them to their original settings.

Publish again, and test in your target browsers. Everything should be working now.

Thanks that sounds quite daunting, I’m fairly new to freeway but will try and muddle through your advice. It’s this bit that I’m not really getting -

I’ll let you know how I get on! Again thank you very much for your advice, reading this forum has got me to the stage I’m at.

There are quite a few Actions that use the Prototype and Scriptaculous JavaScript libraries. Anything from Softpress that has an Effect picker in it, or that includes FX in its name. Anything I have written that includes the word Scripty in its name. There’s more, but that’s the bulk of them right there. You will be able to tell if an object has an Action applied to it because there will be a little yellow cog icon on the top-left corner of that object. Similarly, if an Action has been applied to the page, the page name in the site pane will have the same treatment.

So any page that has an Action applied to it, check to see if it’s one of the “scripty” Actions. If so, make note of any settings, then remove the Action from the page. Likewise any object on the pages.

Once you have removed everything that could possibly be injecting the Prototype and Scriptaculous libraries into your page, publish the site once. Then go back through the document and put back all that you removed in the first step.
