No. Any decent FTP/SFTP application will have an option to “Show hidden files” on the server listing. Peek in all of the menus first, then look in the application preferences.
These files traditionally begin with a dot, and are hidden by convention, not by any other means as in Mac OS X. Your FTP application will hide them unless you ask to see them. Don’t be surprised if there are lots of things in your hosting provider’s folder that begin with a dot – many hosts use this convention to keep you from editing parts of the cPanel or equivalent that they don’t want you messing with. Tread carefully.

From what I have found on GD search you probably need to add this yourself, I would make sure your ftp client is set to make .files visible before you try creating one so you do not overwrite anything that might otherwise be there.
BTW, the update to the WMP has been uploaded and everything appears to be working fine thanks in large part to your GoDaddyHelper action. Thanks again for doing that Walter.
However, if anyone catches any errors, please let me know.
If only our clients knew of all the un-billable time we spend on their behalf.
Personally I use Interarchy but you could use Fetch, I think it still comes with a 30 day tryout so you would not need to buy it unless you felt you had use for it after 30 days.
I think Fetch’s default setting is to view files that start with a period but the setting is under Miscellaneous in the preferences.
You would need to make sure there is no file already existing in your home directoy that is called .htaccess before you upload one. You can create this using BBEdit or similar then use Fetch to upload, you can then edit it on the server.
If you have an 'htaccess file already on your server then download a copy for safety before attemping to alter it.

Who made you choose GoDaddy? The client? If so, bill them your usual and customary hourly rate for chasing this down and making it work like a normal hosting provider. They’ll ask you the next time where they should host.

I use Transmit. I need to check to see if they have that option.
