[Pro] Question to Walter Davis about smooth scroll and Carousel

Hi! I just find out that your fantastic action smooth scroll is not working properly with Carousel buttons.

Buttons next and previous make jump to the top of the page after pressing them. They do their factions fine ( next/previous slide show), but each time take me to top of the website . really annoying.

Do you have any suggestion how to fix that problem??

Make sure you have the very latest versions of both Protaculous and
SmoothScroll. There have been specific changes made to cover this
issue; not recently, but certainly within the last two months.

I just updated the Protaculous to new version 1.2.16 and everything start falling apart
I get errors in javascript in both carousel and transition FX

the error say file has no property and
this line is underline red
scriptTag.src = FwQuote((!file.match(“scriptacalus”) ? file : file+scriptyLibs));

any clue what it means?

Did you type that error message out, or did you copy and paste? I ask
because there is a typo in the code, but I don’t know if it’s just
because you typed what you saw on screen or not.

BTW, I haven’t tested any of my Actions on Lion yet, haven’t upgraded
anything here beyond Snow Leopard.

Hi!
I typed it and could be typo, BUT

I just deleted all Protaculous and install it again restart computer and error is gone, BUT BUT BUT the latest smooth (0.4) and latest Protaculous (1.2.16) does not work , still same problem as to jump on tome on next/previous button press.

Any suggestion ? :slight_smile: Bugger I really like the smooth scroll.

Please post a link to a page where they don’t work together, and I’ll
see what I can do.

One last thing to try – make a new test document, and don’t have this
document open while you’re doing it. Sometimes Freeway files can cache
the old version of the Action even after you have updated to the
newest version, and hang on to it stubbornly in old documents where
you used the earlier version. I have had this happen in documents that
are up to a year old – just noticed it while looking through some old
demo files on my Desktop. Until you remove all of the instances of the
Action from the page and elements, publish once, and then build the
Actions back up again by re-applying them to the page elements or the
page, you haven’t really upgraded the Action for that document.

A brand new document, with no other documents open in Freeway is an
excellent debugging step. If it works in your new document, and
doesn’t work in the old one, that clears up what the problem is and
how to fix it.

Unfortunately your method is not working - everything is still the same jump on top with smooth scroll.
I am so frustrated

This thing is getting weirder and weirder. Anfter I delete smooth scroll and go buck to jumping to anchor ( standard) , Carousel is stopped working for good.
I think is something wrong with Freeway and Lion integration or something or I doing something wrong

Now I don’t have neither smooth scroll nor slideshow, just GREAT!!!

Please remove all Actions from this page and all elements on the page, and check to be sure that there aren’t any other instances of Carousel or SmoothScroll applied to any other pages in the same document. Then publish once. Then go back through the page, adding the Actions back on and re-configuring them.

This should work, but you have to follow the directions I’ve given you before you give up!

Did you try a new blank document (with no other documents open in Freeway)? These two Actions work just great with one another, as long as you’re actually using the newest versions of both. Until you’ve removed all the Actions from the document, published once, and then added them back in, you’re probably using a bastard mix of old and new Actions and support libraries, and it’s guaranteed to not work at all.

I di everything you tale me to do and more I restarted commuter started new document, deleted everything and restarted - Nothing is helping !

Maybe you have better understanding what when wrong . (Slideshow is not finished yet, only 2 pictures out of 11, because it not working in Freeway and I have to manually add pictures into html)
