[Pro] Reapply Master question

Hey all Ive been knee deep in figuring out FW7 and its been challenging but I’m getting somewhere. But here is a question regarding reapplying Master settings. I inadvertently messed up and now my header wrapper which includes my css menu is not applied to my child pages. I tried a few things but now they are not governed by Master.
is there a fix for this as I cannot redo my site or am I doomed to having to update css men on each page

thx all
and let me tell you once you get to creating the responsive layout it is wonderful but its is complicated but fun in a way ha!

Hello,

If you go to the page that has the “delinked” master header wrapper and then go to the Site pane and toggle it so that you can see the elements within the page, if you select the header wrapper and check the Use Master settings in the inspector, and reapply, does that fix the problem ?

Hi John… no that does not solve the problem the Inspector of the child page does not have the Master settings options… this is strange as I always use master for my menus… but something strange happened here. And I afraid to delete anything, as this is a responsive site… I may lose work on my sections if I delete all the menus on child pages and reapply on Master…

Hello,

So to understand your issue, you select the page with the issue, you toggle the site pane so that it shows page and then when you select your Header Wrapper in the left page pane, under the inspector, general, (make sure you are looking at the left most option on the top of the inspector… you have no Use Master Settings or Use Master Content option boxes??

Correct John
the only Master Setting option is if I highlight the actual page but toggling the Master settings does not do anything to the header wrapper.

Hmmm,

I do not think i can help you any further.

Sorry,

John

PS is there a possibility that you initially created the header wrapper in one page and not the master intially ?

Copy the version from the Master and paste it in in place of the one that is misbehaving.

If that doesn’t help then you will need to Cut all unique content from that page, delete everything else (which should appear on the Master), Reapply the Master and then paste the unique content back in.

It might help to paste the unique content onto a totally blank page first.

In these cases, a great trick is to create a new, entirely empty Master page (call it Blank or something). Visit your errant page, and apply the Action to it. Everything that was a part of the original master should disappear (everything that was still linked, anyway) and when you re-apply your master, you will only get the things that belong to the master. But you did say that you wanted to preserve some responsive changes you made vis-a-vis the original master. Is it possible that these changes have sufficiently changed the master content that it cannot be re-linked?

Hey Walter happy New Year

well I have just finished redoing entire site… it was pretty painless. I just duped my child page, Just in case, and went back to my faulty page wrapper and applied Master content, and inserted the unique body content… but your way is certainly interesting too.

thx
