[Pro] Relative Page Layout

I’m having significant issues with overlapping text on my website. For the most part, RPL action helps a lot, but there are times when it makes things look horrible. (Like taking all my text and putting up up at the top of the page behind my banner and link buttons, for example).

If someone could take a look at my site and give me a clue what I’m missing I would be most grateful. I have RPL action applied to the entire page on my master, but for the footer stuff I had to turn it off. Also, on the index page I had to turn it off for reasons I don’t understand.

Almost all the elements of my design overlap, so getting this right is critical.

Thanks so much! URL: http://www.flowersongherbals.com

Does anyone know of a good tutorial on RPL that would help me on this one? I’m lost!

Thanks,
Doty

Hi Doty,

the only person I could imagine would be Dan Jasker but he seems to be off actually.

I haven’t had a go with RPL ever (just for testings) but I’m really sure that my statement is not far away from the truth:

“Overlapping and RPL does not fit - much more, let’s declare it forbidden”.

The reason for this is, that Freeway needs to recalculate the position of boxes (divs, html-items) relative to each other. So a smaller box in a bigger one can be set in relation (with padding and margin) while overlapping is impossible. This is very similar to a puzzle trying to bring in the wrong piece into the wrong area (uahh - I can’t explain this better).

So Freeway can only guess (as its nature) what box shall fit to what referrer. This would end up in something negative padding or margin what in fact is not in plan to have.

I’m not sure what makes you in this special page-layout minding about RPL. Is it really necessary to do?

Hope that this was not to much irritating.

Cheers

Thomas

Hiya,

I have trouble with rpl too

This action seems to have more problems with things overlapping a bit that sitting op top of each other so check your layout for overlaps.

I have found in some cases that grouping things that sit directly on top of each other can help so maybe try that for your footer.
