[Pro] replacing existing Showcase gallery with new version

OK, so I managed to create a gallery slideshow using Showcase and Freeway Pro.

http://william-porter.net/gallery.html

I worked hard to get the design more or less right. I’d like to keep everything intact — but I want to edit the selection of photos that are displayed in the gallery (mainly, at the moment, I want to change the ORDER).

I’m afraid if I select the slide show action item and simply delete its content (Cmd-B?) that I’ll also lose all of the formatting choices that I gropingly figured out. How can I avoid that?

OR is there a simpler way to resequence the pictures directly?

Thanks in advance,

Will

You can do this in the original Showcase Application file, having (I hope) saved the.spg file. See the following, page 11 What’s New in Freeway 5.5.pdf

Note: You can save your Showcase application file
to make edits later. In the Showcase application,
go to File>Save, choose a name and location and
click Save. This will save a file with a suffix of
“.spg” to your hard disk.
The Showcase gallery file created when you use
the Export to Freeway function has a suffix of
“.fwgallery”.

In this file you can drag your pics into a new place, delete or add or edit in any other way. Save the.spg file. Export to freeway. If you use the same name and therefore replace the original file (the .fwgally one) the Freeway site should update on publishing with settings intact in the action. If a different name then select that name in the actions palette.

Best wishes Richard

Richard,

THANK YOU! This worked. After some of my other (possibly self-inflicted) confusions with Freeway, I didn’t dare to hope that it could be this easy. But yes, I had saved the .spg file, and it took me all of five minutes just now to make the adjustments I wanted and update my site.

Thanks, again.

Also, you can save your settings by clicking the button at the bottom of the Actions palette (a settings file will be saved). You can then use this settings file in other files, or on other pages.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Joe,

Just discovered that, too. Thanks for the excellent tip.
