It just means that the software doing the upload (FW?) previously
uploaded a file which is no-longer required or is being replaced. For
some reason, possibly a previous partial upload, the file has already
been removed. It sends the command to remove the file, but the command
fails because there is nothing to remove.

If you empty your local ’Site’ folder and re-publish, FW will have
forgotten the file ever existed, not try to delete it, and not complain.

‘rm’ is a Unix command line utility to remove files, with an
underlying library routine to do the job. FTP uses the same library
routine to delete files. Asking it to remove a non-existent file is
technically an error.

Hi David
can you explain ‘empty your local ‘Site’ folder’ to me as I have deleted the contents of the site folder and republished as you said but I am still receiving the same error message
I am doing something wrong ?

I just mean the folder you’ve set for the site to be published into on
your Mac. Sounds like that’s what you’ve done. I completely
understand the Linux/Unix of the server having been a Unix SysAdmin for
35 years, and have a pretty good understanding of ftp, so it looks like
FW is keeping it’s idea of what needs to be deleted elsewhere than the
Site folder. I’m far from being an expert in FW, so we’ll have to
rely on others for that. The failure to delete a file that isn’t there
shouldn’t cause the upload to fail anyway.
