[Pro] Safari READER

Hi there. New to all of this. I have a page that is 2200 px tall. I have entered five HTML Text Boxes on it. Safari READER faithfully reproduces the first two, but not the rest. I have tried deleting the non-reproducing boxes and duplicating the working ones, but no soap. Is this related to Page length?
Thanks.

Can you post a link to your page Tom.

This should have nothing to do with page length.

I think that you will have more success getting Reader to work if your page is constructed with the CSS button ON - rather than the existing layout which is table based.

You may not have realised that there is a difference.

Try your same page and select each item in turn and check the layer checkbox in the HTML inspector then try Reader again.

You are quite right-- I didn’t. I think I’ve followed your instructions-- Do I leave the selector on ‘Absolute’? I have clicked 'Layer" on each item on this sheet, yet ‘…audience complaints.’ is still the end of the READER entry, and ‘…cabinet in the system.’ is the end of the last paragraph on the page. This is the end of the next paragraph after the ‘audience complaints’ paragraph.

Not to switch lanes before we’ve completed this investigation, but can you tell me why my pdf-based graphics look so bad? These are the two B&W pages showing speakers & the blue-background signal diagram. I’ve messed about with leaving them as pdfs, switching them to JPEGs (in Acrobat Pro) & resampling and NOT resampling them. I did not have this issue with iWeb (though there is so much more to love about Freeway that I feel slightly ashamed to even bring this up).

Thanks again for your help.

They may have been PDFs originally but FW has converted them to jpegs - which is probably not the best image format for them.

Why not leave them as is but link the images to the PDF versions using the Link to PDF action.

Do I leave the selector on ‘Absolute’?

Yes - that is fine.

The other alternative to get reader working correctly would be to have all the text in HTML boxes under one another or inserting the graphics inline to the text content.

There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of information out there about how to ensure Reader compatibility but it has been suggested that the use of the HTML5 Tag would help.

More digging required.
