[Pro] Sciptylightbox2 modification

Hi,
here are some questions about the Scriptylightbox2-Action:

  1. is it possible, to change the colour of the closebox
    (i tried to open the SL2-package, changed the closebox.png to the colour i need, renamed and saved the action and installed it back into Freeway, but FW won’t accept
    the “new” action and warns about two similar actions after opening the document. since it seems to be not very handy to use in future for every needed closebox-colour a special modificated action, i stopped my engagement at this point)
  2. is it possible to dim the page-background when the picture is displayed, or is it alternatively possible to edit the shadow-offset behind the picture window to get more width?
    Thanks for all advice,
    Tom

You need to check carefully in your Actions folders and make sure that you have only one instance of the Action installed. Also, check in the Edit / Actions menu in Freeway, and see if you are using an embedded copy of the Action (these appear at the top of the list, and I think they’re in italic type). You may be fighting between a copy of the Action cached within the document and the one and only copy in your Actions folder. Any of these scenarios would create the effect you describe. Try closing all windows in Freeway, and creating a new document with only this one Action used in it. Restarting your Mac might be another troubleshooting step if that fails to clear it up.

ScriptyLightbox2 doesn’t do this. It could be done, but ScriptyLightbox already does this. SL2 is not the successor to SL, it’s just another way to skin the proverbial feline. You might also look at Paul Dunning’s Spawn New Window in iPod mode. That creates a ghosted-out overlay.

walter,
got it to work, and thank you again for your help.
i had the (obviously bad) idea to keep the original action in the actions folder and rename the modified one e.g. “scriptylightbox2blue.fwaction” so i could use both versions in future simply by picking the action with the right colour, but Freeway recognized it as a duplicate.
after deleting one of them, everything works like expected and shows up the modified closebox.
best regards,
tom

You need to change the version number as well ie

<item-action name="ScriptyLightbox2">
<action-version version="0.8">

But as this is a bundled action the other actions in there will likely be flagged as duplicates too.

Not so much the version number (because then the “newer” version would simply hide the “older” version) but rather the bundle identifiers:

whatever.fwactionb
	Contents
		Info.plist <- here, lines 8, 14, and 16
		Resources
			Actions
				whatever.fwaction <- here, see below

In the Action itself, you need to change the following in all Actions within that file:

  1. The name and optional title attributes in each opening <action or <item-action or <page-action tag.
  2. Maybe the contents of the tag (human-readable name that you see when clicking on the version number in the Actions palette. (I’m not sure if that matters or not.)

If two Actions are named precisely alike, then the complaint will appear, but the newest one (by version number or maybe just file-system age) will be used by Freeway, and the other will be disabled.

If you have two Actions that are absolutely identical internally, even if they are named differently, then that will also trigger the warning. You have to have both an unique name and different contents to avoid this issue.
