[Pro] Scripty Fader small issue- cannot figure out

Walt,

when you arrive,

does the november chart show up under the thumbnails or do you have to press NOV to see it?

Yes, it fades in as the page loads. If you have this effect on one of your jumbo pages (along with 10 other effects) then it may wait until the rest of the page loads before it fades in. The ScriptyFader is triggered on page load, not DOM load.

Walt,

just sent you image to your email- that problem you see is not just chrome.

it is hard to pinpoint because once I click NOV like in safari then my next visit it does load right away…

the history dictates what viewer sees.

The pages I have it on are not jumboed with actions (
however they do have the LAST modified pro Action which tells when page was last updated.

I did a totally stripped down version with scripty and this concept (sort of like what I sent you) and still saw repeating behavior.

Is this method still the best one you suggest for a parent to see a table of info, 1 for each month, the current month loads in right away and they can click to see older months?

My research tells me this is better than anything else.

maybe I am making too big of a deal. Since only 1 single parent is viewing their own private page, then after they click the thumb once (assuming it does not show on load) it seems fine after that.

Have to choose where to put my efforts I imagine.

There’s another element on the page that has the Action applied to it — or there was. The fader is absolutely working as designed, but it is loading an empty element into the page on initial view (in Chrome). That item is named ‘testmain’, so look for that element in the Page list on the left.

testmain is the name of the HTML box that has the scripty fader action applied to it (the box where the other tables show up in for the viewer).

Am I doing something wrong?

Main html box (scripty fader action)

HTML box with tables in pasteboard (Scipty option action)

Thumbnails (scripty thumb action)

the old way I had the scripty action AND the scripty option action applied to the HTML box that had the viewable chart in it. I thought this was wrong so I removed it.

The ScriptyFader Action goes on the first element — the one that marks the location of all the others. The ScriptyFader Option goes on each additional element that you want to have appear in the page. I would remove all of the Actions from this page — all of them — and publish once. Then re-build the page again and see if the problem continues. There’s some rating widget thing on this page, too, off-screen on the pasteboard. Remove that just for fun, and see if the problem goes away then.

remove all actions from that page, then hit FILE, publish site?

I did have the actions applied correctly right?

Main HTML (called ‘testmain’" has scripty action and is empty

others have scirpty option

??

Just like Carousel (which ScriptyFader was converted from) the first element on screen is what you apply the ScriptyFader to. The second through nth elements each get ScriptyFader Option, and there is never an empty element with any Action on it.

Yes. This gets rid of the global cache of Actions on the page in Freeway, and is a good base for debugging any Action issue.

No, see above.

oh wow- I have never had it like that.

So when December comes, I move the placement of the action… I think I got it- will work around with it today.

Thanks for the response. Helps just knowing the support is there.

I will write back later after I do all you said.

Walt,

I believe you have helped solve the issue. It had to do with how I had things set up-
Also compounded by the fact that I duplicated some pages with scripty which can be a problem with naming, etc.

I think I am good for now and it is a true gift of an action.

Thanks

Enjoy the weekend,

Barry
