[Pro] Scriptylightbox a NoGo on iPad and iPod

Are there any alternatives that work with the iPad and iPod that we’re aware of? The target image is enlarging in the modal window, but shifting to the right and out of frame.

It is workable as the image can be seen, but way too messy to use. Unfortunately, as I’ve already spent some time incorporating it. I’m not necessarily designing for those devices, but let’s face it – they are predominant now and to neglect compatibility would be an error.

I don’t suspect there is a reasonable fix for this, Walt?

It should work fine - post a link to your offending page(s) in case there is something else causing the problem.

I have the iPod settings set to H/W automatic, as well as initial scale to 100%, min to 25%, and max to 165%.

The problem appears to be that the iPad OS is rendering the page twice as wide as it actually is, and shifting the modal window to the “center” of the viewport which is off to the right due to the additional width.

Thanks for taking a look at it…Can’t figure out why it is happening, as the rest of the pages are showing normal width with the same settings. And were built from the same template.

Can you post a link to a page that does work.

This one doesn’t work perfectly either – not centering or filling the viewport completely – but at least is acceptable and isn’t doubling in width.

I just tested Scripty on a “good” page, and it seems to work. Apparently the structure of my photo page corrupted at some point.

I guess I’ll just have to rebuild it and see if that fixes it.

Found the solution. I had one too many levels to the parent element, and had inserted Scripty too far down the line – thus it was not inheriting the parent’s centering attributes.

Working now, thanks again for the help Dave.

I need help with this same thing on the iPad. My Scripytlightbox images open in the center initially, but then jump to the top of the page, so you have to scroll up to see them. I have the viewport width and height set to automatic and the initial scale to 100%, minimum 25%, and maximum 165%.

This is the page, and the first two photos in the article have Scriptylightbox attached:

Are you using the very latest version of the Action? Check at
ActionsForge and see. The Action does not take any of the viewport
stuff into account, all it does is ask the browser for the screen
dimensions and wedge its cover layer into that space.

I downloaded and installed the latest action to be sure. I’m not sure what version I had, but it didn’t make a difference. The lightbox image still jumps to the top of the page. It starts out in the center, but then goes to the top.

Yup, Im seeing that here too. And I don’t have a good solution for you
on this one. There’s something odd about your page on my iPhone – the
page loads “zoomed in” and I have to pinch out to see the whole thing.
Are you sure you’ve set the page dimensions correctly in the iPhone
tab in Freeway?

This is a screenshot of my settings:

I think it’s the default. I didn’t change anything. I thought both the viewport height and width were auto, but apparently only the width is. The height is None.

I experimented with the initial scale to see if that made any difference, but it didn’t.

I don’t know what else to try.

Here is a link to a test page with nothing on it but the photo and some words at the top, just so you can see it going up there:

I’m giving up. I went with the Moo Slimbox instead. I don’t know what the problem was. I’ve used the Scriptylightbox on a number of occasions. This has me totally flummoxed.
