[Pro] scrolling

How do you make an item stay in the same spot on the page when scrolling? I am trying to do something like this http://css-tricks.com/examples/SecretMessage/

You want to select the item that you want to be static (a layered item) and in the Inspector HTML item, first tab then next to the Layer tickbox there is a dropdown selector. You want to select ‘Fixed in Window’.

Note that Mobile Safari does not recognise this attribute.

Thats what I thought but it does not seem to work, I have tried to do this with the box at the top of the page. I cant see what I could be doing wrong. http://henson.aswebsitedesign.com/about.html

It is the RPL action that is upsetting this.

Apply the remove from RPL action to the item(s) that you want fixed.

Thank you that worked. Now the item that is scrolling is off to the left, if there a way to center that item?

Yes - but not with your current page construction.

Can you explain why you want the fixed in window feature - your pages really do not seem tall enough to warrant it.

Also you have a problem in that the bg image to the header/nav box is a gif and so there is no transparency to the shadow when you scroll the page and the text goes up behind the fixed container.

I don’t think you nreally need the RPL action at all.

Well my client would really like this feature even though the pages are not very tall. I have removed the RPL action from the entire site but it does not seem to help at all.

Is your client aware that it doesn’t work on iOS devices? Yet.

It can certainly be made to work with your site - with some alterations to its construction - but you really wont see its effect except on taller pages.

It is late here so I cannot do anything tonight but I can have a play with your file tomorrow.

OK - here is an example page http://www.deltadesign.co/examples/tester2.html

I will provide a link to download the FW file when I get a minute.
