For the past 25 years, I have been publishing a quarterly magazine and selling it in print format. I am now considering changing over to an online (downloadable) PDF format. Can anyone give me directions where I can find a reliable source of info on how to set up a form using FW Pro that will include setting up online subscriber database and payment forms? I know the very basics of FW Pro, but I really am just a novice. I like using FW and would like to stay with it. The other real plus to being a FW user is the great forum support I have found in the past, which is why I am putting this question here.
You’re going to have to use a good cart service that will allow you to offer large numbers of downloads. I think e-Mal’s is limited to something like 500 max for downloadable objects, and thats for the paid edition.
It might work as long as you are doing weekly articles.
Thanks for the quick reply. It will be a quarterly publication and I doubt there will be more than a couple hundred sold each quarter. Perhaps it would work better to set up a pay-by-credit card page and once payment is cleared a copy could (automatically?) be sent. Just getting started on this idea, so any suggestions are welcome.
For a shopping cart system I can thoroughly recommend http://www.e-junkie.com/ who I’ve been using for a couple of years now with PDF downloads. Prices start at just $5 a month but they don’t treat you like a client who is only paying $5 a month.
It’s a very flexible system that hooks straight into various billing solutions including ClickBank, PayPal and Google Checkout etc. You can try them out for a free trial period as well I believe and there is no long term contract if you decide it’s not for you.
They are a good company to deal with and I like the fact that they come back to you quickly with qualified answers, which show they actually read the question. They also admit if they have a problem and then put things right unlike certain other companies. I find the best combination is e-junkie with PayPal and PayPal can be set up for subscription payments which should suit you.
