[Pro] SEO

I was just wondering if anyone could give any advice on how to make sure that the URL strings come out with more useful and clear names. For example a site I am working on at the mo has merged words from text I have used to name that page and created: http://www.astonpottery.co.uk/astonpod.htm

Our clients are really concerned about SEO and getting better clearer wording in the URL.

Do you only have a certain amount of words that can be used?

Sorry for all of the questions!

You can change the url in the inspector palette into something you want it to be. For example http://www.astonpottery.co.uk/aboutusj.html can be changed into http://www.astonpottery.co.uk/about-us.html

Also, I have an article based upon my own experience with Freeway and SEO. Maybe there is something in there that can help you http://www.dtp2.nl/freeway-pro-seo.html

Note that the standard setting in FW is to truncate the file name to 21? characters - cant remember exactly how many is standard.

You can change this in File>Document Setup - look under the Output Tab for Max. Filename Length and change it a number big enough for your needs.

If you want to break up words that will be part of an URL then use - Hyphens and/or _ Underscores.
